Oranges and Mangos
36x60 oil on s/cThis was a commission piece.
It's amazing what you can learn with each painting you do. This painting pushed me in directions I wouldn't have taken otherwise. It made me realize how much there is to know.
Here it is being displayed in Kalido's Interior Design showroom in Florida.Sunday, September 18, 2011

On the Dock - SOLD
11x23, pastel on wallis paper,
SOLD
This was a bit tricky to photograph. I framed it before realizing I had forgotten to take a picture. So right now she's framed with a brown mat and black metal frame. The reference for this was a poor quality snapshot of my grandmother back in her day. It was such a great pose, I had to see what I could come up with.
I just found out that my painting Pink Wig and Earring is one of the featured paintings on the website for the Armonk Art Show. Armonk is a mere 35 miles north of New York City. I'm getting a charge out of it.

Fur Collar
12x16 collage and pastelSOLD
The model for this is one of my daughters. We had a photo shoot using different accessories and hair styles. Her hair is normally curly and I wanted to get some wild hair shots, so I was a little disappointed when I realized she had straightened her hair the night before. We managed to get her hair piled up, though. This painting started off strictly as a pastel drawing. I was determined to get her features somewhat representational this time more as lesson than for any other reason. So, consequently, the whole drawing ended up be very representational - nice, but not very exciting. That's when I started tearing things up.

Something Over There
$375
The reference for this one was an antique mug shot. It started off as a charcoal drawing, but I felt highly compelled to add color. Slowly I added paper and pastel.
