It's paintings like this one when you really curse yourself for not having a decent camera and/or photo editing program. According to my monitor the hair is more orange, the background more yellow, a little more pink in the skin tone, yet the shirt is relatively accurate. Such a drag when you know the paintings is better than the photo representing it.
This painting started off with a minimal amount of paper on the board. I wasn't sure how it was going to play out, but they pretty much got covered over in the end. The piece in the upper right was very textural and that is why I used it in the first place - more of an experimental piece. The other pieces did dictate the color and value of the background however.
