Day 21 - June Marathon

I am two days behind schedule after my trip to Maine (eight paintings to makeup). I posted five today to make up one for the 18th. I actually painted another one of the woods today and seemed to have lost it while saving it. I figured it was sign, and it shouldn't get posted. It was difficult and the mosquitoes were thick and I was hot. If I paint 5 for the next 8 days, I'll will reach my goal of 120 by the end of the month.

Day 16 - June Marathon

I found this great farm next town over and met one of the farmers as he came by the field to collect the eggs.

Day 8 - June Marathon

2 Pastels, 2 Oils Today
I limited my palette with the pastels today - much easier! Yesterday I was thinking Marc Hanson was smart to paint his marathon in April when there is more color. There is SO much green in June. Luckily I read on Loriann Signori's blog this morning as she quoted Wolf Kahn - beware of the green disease. That I shall.

This one was fun to do, although the whole time I was paranoid about the sun changing things. It is some kind of pipe deal on the side of a mill building. I'll probably try it again.

Day Two - June Marathon

This is a pile of logs for those of you who are wondering??? This next one also has to do with logs...

Can anyone guess what this next one is? I was a little overwhelmed.... omg! Didn't realize that until I got into it. Was I out of my mind?!!!

Okay... I think I may alter my commitment. It is safe to say that it is going to take me all day to do 4. I may feel the need to slip in a small oil painting or two here and there, which will alter my stack of pastel paper posted earlier.

Study for Scrubby Woods

5 x 7 pastel on sanded paper
Is it still a study when it is done after (or during) the larger painting? I seem to want to do studies after I've messed up the big one. Anyway, this little study will proof to be helpful with me finishing the larger.

Tree and Stream

5 x 7 pastel on sand paper

Moss on Log

6 x 8 pastel
This is done from a photo that was taken while it was raining. Even if it is cloudy the rain seems to brighten the colors. The greens in earlier spring are bright anyway.

Stone Wall With Forsythia

6 x 8 pastel

These stonewalls are a good exercise for me to stay loose. Although, the longer I work the painting the tighter it gets. This one seems a little under developed. My mission is to take them further without over doing it.

Overgrown Tractor

6 x 8 pastels
n/a
We live in a lawn manicured neighborhood. My husband is the one who keeps our yard tidy. If it were up to me it would be more "natural". There is one farm done the road, however, that is more natural - completely run done and overgrown to be more precise. This tractor is sitting in what was once a field.

Walking Path in the Fall

5 x 7 oil on board
This was done from an older photo. There was a bunch of them I took one rainy day along this walking path when the color was at its peak. I keep refering back to them.

Row of Trees Next Door SOLD

6 x 8 oil on board
SOLD
There are a few raindrops on the painting. Typical day in New Hampshire this time of year.

My Sister's Kitchen

14x10 mixed media
My sister has the most interesting flare for interior decorating. I just felt I had to do a painting of her kitchen. I painted her living room already and gave it to her as a gift. She is one of my biggest fans. This painting is done with a watercolor wash and pastels on top. A little funky - just like the kitchen.

Walking Path Near Massabesic

6x8 oil on board SOLD
Autumn is by far the best time to paint outside. The sun is lower in the sky (at least up here in New England), many of the leaves have fallen leaving bare trees (which I love), the sun is warm... I could go on.

Pine Trees and a Bush

6x8 oil on board SOLD
These trees are in my neighbors yard. There actually is a row of them. I have painted these trees many times. I love them when the sun hits them just right.

Silver Lake Cottage

8 x 6 oil canvas
Another rendition of Silver Lake. I'm trying to shake up my palette a little bit - use colors where I normally wouldn't.

Cottages on Silver Lake

10 x 8 oil on canvas SOLD
This was started the last hour or so before the sun went behind the trees. I took a photo at the time and finish it later.

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Houses Next Door

14 x 11 oil on board SOLD
This was painted outside. There were alot of clouds, some rain, some sun. By the time I finished, it was late in the afternoon, but no clouds. So there was alot of changing shadows and light. I guess I was lucky to finish before dark.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Yellow Tablecloth

12 x 9 oil on board SOLD
This was done outside. It always feels like a mad race painting outside. Much got eliminated.

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

One Pear Blue Corner

7 x 5 oil on canvas board
SOLD

Thursday, May 7, 2009

Springtime Bog

10 x 8 oil on board
This painting was donated to the New Hampshire Timberland Owners Assocation

White House Off the Road

8 x 6 oil SOLD
I was attracted to this seen because of all the color that was going on in the field. There is now a huge church to the left of this little house in big woods and an expanse of pavement right behind it. You don't even notice the house. It takes you awhile to realize the house is still there.

Little Italian Village

6 x 8 oil on canvas board
SOLD

Pear and Some Radishes

6 x 6 oil on canvas board
