Ebb n' Flo

Colors put on drawing paper
Reel and whirl like spin art

Sugar planted as a kiss
As true as the hopeful heart

Curved lines intertwine
Spyro-Gyro, pyro

Sparks fly from welding rod
Minds unite and flow

Fallen trees dam murky waters
Waters that no longer seek

Days flow as before
Tears wet upon the cheek

Sun striking tops of trees
In winter laid out bare

Daffodils on the window sill
Your and my love affair

Party On

He stood before her and asked "Can I buy you a drink?"
"I have one already, silly. What do you think?"

"I'm buying. Have another, it's almost all gone."
"Sure", she says. "What the heck." Rock and party on.

The crowd pleasing band beats out its rhythm and blues
He takes her wrist. They dance and touch. What's she got to lose?

Last call, a little food and then a big fat yawn.
Next the kiss and then a pinch. Rock and party on.

Well, what she had to lose, come to find out
Was her heart to a drunk for the third round about.

Take a number, one after the other apparently in a line
Heedlessly she sits with him and has a glass of wine.

They talk and dance and have their fun right up until dawn
And laugh and love and are carefree and rock and party on.

The years do pass, they are older, now precious are her days
She looks back on that time and doesn't regret those ways.

There were lessons to be learned, expansion to be found
Her only wish at this time - that he was still around.

She'd hold him near, breath his smell and take him by the heart
The past is gone, the future near, today's the best part.

They could look upon each day as if there were no other
Together they would learn their lessons and teach one another.

But if they are to be apart at this time on earth
She considers what they had of much value and much worth.

Her behest to him for love runs deep and not to be withdrawn
"Keep your spirit and find new ways to rock and party on."

Seagull

When I come back next time around I want to be a seagull
Just so I can be assured my life will not be dull.

I'll hitch a ride on the Henry Lee ferry if I want
Get up early to harass and be every lobsterman's haunt

I'll snatch peanut butter and jelly from unsuspecting hands
Poop on rocks and docks even where the boat captain stands

I will ignore private drive signs and please do not trespass
I will be glorious and blameless, a righteous monkey's ass

I can squawk in anyone's face, I won't have to be nice
And act with rude behavior, no one will think twice

Make more noise than is needed, always in excess
Scatter trash about the ground and always leave a mess

And when I'm feeling calm and pleasant, cuz sometimes I just might
I'll catch the wind upon the sea and gain some extra height

I'll fly up above the sailors, I'll fly to and fro
I'll take an extra pass "Oops, lookout down below!"

I'll fly off with a hoot and with way too much glee
I rather be naughty than nice, I'm a seagull, so sue me.

Lost Kiss

At hint of first gray light beam
Sleep borders wakefulness and dream

I feel soft soft lips touching my own
The sweetest kiss truly ever known

I move my tongue, feel my dry lips
The beautiful caress flickers and slips

The dream fades, unable to cling to
Reluctantly I awake, thinking of you.

Expand

I close my eyes and take a deep breath
My drama unfolds like the play Macbeth

I have found a cliff of which to jump from
Of which I know not the certain outcome

It feels reckless, irresponsible and stupid
Like that time I allegedly chased cupid

The act is bold over zealous indeed
Good thing I haven’t yet picked up speed

I’m in a slow free fall from that ledge
I defy gravity, I’m a genius I allege

I’ll deal with the consequences when I land
But as for now I only wish to expand.
